Our Mission & Methodology

Democratizing professional-grade financial analysis. We bridge the gap between complex spreadsheets and user-friendly tools.

Precision First

Our algorithms are rigorously tested against banking standards. We account for leap years, compounding intervals, and tax bracket adjustments.

Privacy Centric

We believe your finances are private. All calculations happen in your browser. No data is sent to our servers or stored in databases.

Real-World Relevance

We build for the modern economy: Gig workers, Crypto investors, and F.I.R.E. aspirants. Our tools solve 2026 problems, not 1990 ones.

How We Build Calculators

Unlike many finance sites that use generic plugins, every tool on SimpleFinanceCalc is custom-coded by developers with financial domain expertise. Here is our standard development lifecycle:

  1. Research: We review IRS publications, loan amortization standards (Regulation Z), and SEC guidelines.
  2. Modeling: We build a spreadsheet prototype to verify the math against known scenarios.
  3. Implementation: We code the logic in TypeScript, ensuring type safety and edge-case handling (e.g., negative interest rates, leap years).
  4. Verification: We run automated tests to compare our results against industry-standard benchmarks.

Why F.I.R.E. and Gig Economy?

Traditional financial advice often ignores the two biggest shifts in the modern workforce: the desire for early financial independence (F.I.R.E.) and the rise of freelance/contract work.

A standard retirement calculator assumes you will work 40 hours a week until age 65. Our Coast FIRE and Barista FIRE tools assume you might want to front-load your savings and switch careers at 40. Our Gig Economy tools account for self-employment taxes that W-2 employees never see.
